Funeral service for Alfred A. Doze, age 97, of Frederick will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Doze passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at his home in Frederick.
Alfred Anthony Doze was born on October 3, 1918 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Alva Curtis and Sophronia (Gallagos) Doze. He attended Frederick Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Estelle Bray on November 30, 1939 in Frederick. Alfred served in the United States Army during World War II in the 138th Engineer Battalion in Europe. He received an honorable discharge as a Technician Fifth Grade. After returning home he owned and operated Doze Ready Mix Concrete for many years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 45 years. Alfred was also a member of DAV, American Legion and the VFW.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Doze of Frederick and Stanley Doze and his wife Cindy of Mabank, Texas; two sisters, Marie Yates of Tucson, Arizona and Mary Weiss of Missouri; six grandchildren, Randy Doze, Dee Dee Rodgers, Roderick Doze, Jason Doze, Kyle Peyton and Tiffany Parrott; a host of great and great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend and caretaker, Loretta Gayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Doze; one son, Ronald Doze; one sister, Frances Edwards; and three brothers, Varrell, Ralph and Arthur Doze.
A big thanks goes to the Aspire Hospice nurses who were involved in his care.
