Obituary

Graveside service for Alfred Hulsey age 84, of Edmond, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Gordon Powell officiating.  Burial will follow under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.  Mr. Hulsey passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his home in Edmond.

Alfred Hulsey was born January 3, 1936, near Paris, Arkansas.  He was born Alfred Teltow as well as was his twin brother, Albert, to Arthur and Anna Mae Teltow.  Their mother died at an early age and they were adopted and raised by their mother's sister and husband, Irene (Kisselburg) Hulsey and Oscar D. Hulsey.  He attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School in 1955.  He played the trumpet in the band and received a scholarship to Central State College in Edmond.  On November 24, 1955, he and Ellen Rae Hughes were united in marriage at the Antioch Baptist Church, east of Davidson, Oklahoma. Alfred received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Central State.  He later received a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering from The University of Oklahoma.

Alfred was employeed as a nuclear engineer for General Electric for many years.  The company moved the family to San Jose, California.  While in California he was active in the Branham Lane Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.  In 1978, they moved to College Station, Texas where he taught Nuclear Engineering at Texas A & M University.  In 1982, the family moved back to Edmond where he worked at Tinker Air Force Base, coordinating the computers for aeronautical systems.  Alfred's heart was always in farming, he loved coming back to Tillman County on the weekends to farm.  He later retired after many years from Tinker.  Alfred was one of the founding families of Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond; and served as a 3rd Degree Mason with the Edmond Lodge # 37.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark Allen and Rebecca Hulsey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, James Hulsey of Oklahoma City and Christena Hulsey of Oklahoma City; three half-brothers, John Teltow, Jerrell Teltow, and Norman Teltow; and a half-sister, Geneva DeVazier.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Irene Hulsey; his wife Ellen Rae Hulsey; three brothers, William Teltow and Glen Teltow, and his twin brother, Albert Hulsey.

He may be viewed on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the funeral home in Frederick from 9:00 a.m. till noon.
