Obituary

Funeral service for Anita Jane Calvillo age 69, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, 921 W. Gladstone Ave., Frederick, Oklahoma with Rev. Tom Peeveyhouse officiating.  Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.  Mrs. Calvillo passed away Sunday evening, June 5, 2022, at her daughter's home in Newcastle, Oklahoma.

Anita Jane (Ballard) Calvillo was born February 9, 1953, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Troice "Fatty" and Lela Mae (Whitmore) Ballard.  She attended Frederick Public Schools.  In 1975, she and Peter Paul Calvillo were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma.  To this union was born three children, Sunny, Shannon and Nicholas Paul.  Anita worked as a nursing aide for the Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick, and as a caregiver for Carter Home Health.  She later was employed at the Veterans Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma for many years, where she retired.  Anita loved to work in the kitchen and was an excellent cook.  She was well known for her tortillas. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; and always enjoyed a good garage sale.  She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Sunny Calvillo-Johnson and her husband Arrion of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Shannon Workman and her husband Edward of Newcastle, Oklahoma, and Nicholas Paul Calvillo of Lawton, Oklahoma; two brothers, Richard Dale Ballard of Edmond, Oklahoma and Troice "Son" Ballard of Frederick, Oklahoma; three sisters, Kay Barbosa of Frederick, Oklahoma, Gayle Anderson of Snyder, Oklahoma, and Clara Baker of Wichita Falls, Texas, ten grandchildren, Dion Hatten, Aysia Tibbs, Kassidy McNeil, Alexis Calvillo, DeShawn McNeil, Kedrian Calvillo, Marcus Calvillo, Mercedez Calvillo, Drevin Workman, and Kash Workman; her great-grandchildren, Liliana McNeil, Hero McNeil; and soon to be, Lela-Mae Jane Hatten; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Troice "Fatty" and Lela Mae Ballard; and a niece, Wendee Gayle Anderson.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday evening, June 10, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Jackson Funeral Home in Frederick.
