Obituary

Graveside service for Barbara C. Kern age 90, of rural Cache, Oklahoma will be at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Cache Cemetery, with Rev. John Webb officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Kern entered her Heavenly home on Friday morning, December 6, 2024, at her home south of Cache, surrounded by loved ones.

Barbara (Pierce) Kern was born March 25, 1934, at Craterville Park, north of Cache, Oklahoma, to Otis John "O.J." and Johnnie Mae (Rogers) Pierce.  She attended Cache, Indiahoma, Madill, and Ardmore public schools, before returning to Cache, where she graduated from Cache High School, with the Class of 1952.  On October 11, 1954, she and Kenneth Lee Kern were united in marriage in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Barbara worked by Kenneth's side in the farming operation; she would drive tractors, combines, run and get parts, and would take meals to the field during harvest time. She and Kenneth enjoyed traveling abroad and had been to every state except seven.  Barbara was an exceptionally talented knitter. She and Kenneth were home-room parents and were a big part of their children's life.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Siegeler and her wife Jill of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Bud Kern and his wife Pam of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Donald Kern and his wife Billie of Cache, Oklahoma; one brother, Ralph Pierce of Columbia, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, Christie Stewart and her husband Reid, Jonathan Siegeler, Carrie Schneider, Joshua Siegeler, Susan Williams, Kenneth Kern, III and his wife Mandy, Stephen Kern and his wife Anna, Michael Kern and his wife Amy, Stacy Kern, Jennifer Kern, and Donald Kern, Jr.-Tuller and his spouse Shea; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.J. and Johnnie Pierce; her husband, Kenneth Kern who preceded her in death on August 30, 2019; one grandson, Keith Kern; three brothers, J.B. Pierce, Leroy Pierce, and Keith Pierce; and one sister, Geraldine McCurtain.
