Obituary

T o those who knew Barbara Jones McPhail, she was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin and best friend.  She was born in Mountain Park, OK on March 27, 1933, the second of three daughters born to Ernest L. Jones and Amy Riddlespurger Jones. She lost her long battle with cancer on April 8, 2016.

Barbara was a strong, hard working woman of great faith.  She began working at age nine pulling cotton in the Oklahoma cotton fields and started her first real job at age fourteen working in the little neighborhood grocery store, where she learned her lifelong work ethic.  She accepted Christ into her life at age 12 and, over the years, held many church positions. In Edmond, OK, she was a member of the Henderson Hills Baptist Church.

Barbara met her future husband, Willis McPhail, at church. They had their first date on October 1, 1947 and were married on Feb 25, 1952.  Their marriage was made perfect with the addition of two children, Logan born in 1954 and Jennifer born in 1955.  The marriage was a long and happy one until Willis' death in a farming accident in 2004.

In addition to her marriage, Barbara's greatest pride and achievements were her children, grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and working alongside her husband on the farm. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed the several cruises she was able to take.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Willis McPhail, her parents, Ernest and Amy Jones, her in-laws, Omer and Allinette McPhail, two sisters-in-law, Janel McPhail and Faye McPhail and two brothers-in-law, W.G. Anthony and Robert Sanders.

Survivors include her children, Logan McPhail and his wife Cinde of Howard, CO and Jennifer McPhail Wander and her husband Tom of Asheville, NC, grandchildren Amie Tyner, Matthew Tyner, Ashley Salmon-Wander and her husband Matt Aprile, Tony McPhail and Melissa Murphy and three great-grandchildren Logan Murphy, Nico Aprile and Isa Aprile.  She is also survived by her sisters Ernestine Anthony and Johnna Kienholz and her husband Jim, brothers-in-law Gene McPhail and his wife Margaret, Paul McPhail and Don McPhail as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
