Obituary

Funeral service for former Frederick resident Beatrice Mae "Bea" Byrum age 106, of Arlington, Texas will be at 1:30 P.M., Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Chamblin and Dr. Danny Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Byrum passed away on November 2, 2016, in Arlington. Texas.

Beatrice Mae (DeSpain) Byrum was born May 27, 1910, in Portales, New Mexico to Thomas and Mary Samantha Rosella (Grubbs) DeSpain. Bea and her family moved to Oklahoma when she was very young, traveling in a covered wagon. She attended Altus High School where she graduated with the Class of 1926. She later attended the University of Oklahoma for three years. Due to the Depression, she returned home before graduating from college. She started working at an early age, working for her father. But, deciding she wanted to be paid for her work, she went to work for Woolworth's Department Store. On November 8, 1931, she and Tyra Prather "T.P." Byrum were united in marriage. She and T.P. owned and operated Byrum Cleaners in Frederick for over forty years. Mr. Byrum preceded her in death on July 14, 1979. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Frederick where she and T.P. taught the Young Peoples Department for over twenty-five years. She loved reading her Bible and continued with assistance after her eye sight began to fail. Bea loved to travel. She and her daughters had mother-daughter trips for 22 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly T. Chamblin and her husband Ken and Brenda Kay Woods and her husband Dr. Robert all of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Kym Panquerne and her husband Paul of Fort Worth, Texas, Kyle Chamblin and his wife Jackie of Arlington, Texas, Kelley Muilenburg and her husband Dr. Kevin of Rockport, Texas and Lori Tyra Woods of Arlington, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Steven Chamblin and his wife Yvonne of Weslaco, Texas, Crystal Branim and her husband Michael of Angleton, Texas, Chandler Panquerne and his wife Kim of Fort Worth, Texas, Zsanae Panquerne of Austin, Texas, Karissa Muilenburg of Rockport, Texas and Cameron Muilenburg of Chattanooga, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, T.P. Byrum; one brother, L.Z. DeSpain; and one sister, Marcelle Chism,
