Mrs. Brown passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at English Village Nursing Home in Altus, Oklahoma.

Betty Jean (Hoover) Brown was born on September 20, 1937, in Sterling, Oklahoma to William "Bill" and Evie (Sharp) Hoover. She attended Frederick Public Schools graduating with the Class of 1956. Betty was united in marriage to Robert Brown on June 19, 1956, in Frederick, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1992.  Betty began her work career at Betsy Bra. She later worked at Schelegel, which became Metzler, retiring after 39 years of factory work.   Betty was also a farmer's wife, and all that involved.

She loved camping!  Betty had a two-wheeled, pop-up camper that she would hook up to her car, load up the "Grands" and head to the lake. She said the only trouble she ever had was backing the trailer back into its parking spot when she got back home. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. Betty was a Baptist.

Betty is survived by one son, Dale Brown and his wife Terri of Tipton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Brenda Akins and her husband Don of Altus, Oklahoma; two brothers, Billy Hoover and his wife Shirley of Weatherford, Texas and Mike Hoover and his wife Marilyn of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters, Geraldine Arnold and her husband Dalton of Kermit, Texas and Cathy Weaver and her husband Tim of Tomball, Texas; three grandchildren, Jennifer Wolfe and her husband Mike, Jeff Brown, and Brian Archer and his wife Kristin; eight great-grandchildren, Bryce Coronado, Graicyn Wolfe, Hunter Archer, Gunner Archer, Avery Archer, Keaton Lenard, Tyson Lenard, and Jasper Lenard; one great-great-grandchild, Harper Coronado; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Evie Hoover; husband, Robert Brown; brother, Melvin Hoover; and grand-daughter, Carrie Lenard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.
