Graveside services for former Frederick resident, Betty L. Mealor, age 94, of Wichita Falls, Texas, will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Altus City Cemetery, Falcon Road, Altus, Oklahoma under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home, Frederick, Oklahoma.  Mrs. Mealor passed away Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023, at Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Betty was born in Humphrey, Oklahoma, on October 25, 1928, to James Aaron Shirley and Iva Mae Shirley. She married the love of her life, Albert "Buddy" Grady Mealor, in Altus, Oklahoma on June 12, 1945. They had three children: Sheryle, Buddy Alan, and Cassia.

During their marriage, Buddy and Betty opened their own office equipment repair shop in Frederick, Oklahoma. While working there, Betty was also a seamstress and enjoyed crafts, such as crocheting. After retiring from the shop, Betty then became a full-time housewife and enjoyed spending the extra time with her children. Buddy and Betty spent a blissful 61 years together and were blessed with a love that very few experience. When Buddy's health began declining, Betty devoted her time and energy to care for him. After Buddy passed away, Betty eventually moved to Wichita Falls, Texas to be closer to her family.

Betty also enjoyed watching her husband coach Little League and watching her grandson and great grandson play baseball. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she used every opportunity she could to brag about them. Betty was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan and never missed a football game. Betty's love for her family and her kindness toward others will always be remembered and she will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy; parents, James and Ivy; grandparents; brother, Pete Alan Faught and his wife, Wanda Faught; children: Cassia Mealor and Buddy Alan Mealor; son-in-law, Larry Dean; and great-grandchild, Bridget Mealor.

Those left to treasure her memory are daughter, Sheryle Dean; daughter-in-law, Debbie Mealor; grandchildren: Cindy Sheldon, Jeremy Dean and his wife, Christy, and Brad Mealor and his wife, Melody; great-grandchildren: Jessica Sheldon, Kreasen Dean, Paelynn Dean, Grayson Spaulding, Bristol Mealor, and Brock Mealor; and nieces: Shirley Loftis, Selette Bryant, and Amalie Wheat; as well as many others.
