Graveside service for Bill Barnes age 71 of Tipton will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Tipton Cemetery with Rev. Harold Gaches officiating. Inurnment will follow under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Barnes passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at his home. Billie Joe "Bill" Barnes was born April 16, 1943, at Cleburne, Texas to Joe Bailey and Maurine (Priddy) Barnes. He attended South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from active duty on January 31, 1981 and later served in the Air Force Reserves. Bill retired on January 6, 1991 at the rank of Tech Sergeant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as custodian for many years. He was an n avid bowler, fisherman and gardener. He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Jo Savini of North Richland Hills, Texas and Pamela Rhea Rushing of Bedford, Texas; two step-daughters, Becky Carpenter and Debi Huff; one brother, James Ray Barnes of Bullard, Texas; four grandchildren, Richard Ryan Rushing, Preston Aaron Rushing, Matthew Ethan Rushing and Molly Christina Savini; two nephews, Hunter and Trapper Barnes; two great-nieces, Kimber and Kylie Barnes. Bill was also "Gramps" to Jordan Huff, Drew, Chelsea and Raegan Chambers. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris McDonald and one sister-in-law, Suzanne Barnes.
