Funeral service for Billy Joe "Bill" Dill age 89, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will be with military honors in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Dill passed away Friday, December 2, 2016, at the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Billy Joe Dill was born July 15, 1927, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Charles Clinton and Nancy Lousherman (Marshall) Dill. He attended Frederick Public School. On October 12, 1945, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in World War II. He was stationed in Hawaii, China and Japan. He was discharged on October 22, 1946, at the rank of Private First Class. On June 23, 1947, he and Vera Marie Murphy were united in marriage in Vernon, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2007. He worked as a mechanic for Goodner Automotive for many years and later owned and operated Dill's Garage in Frederick. Bill was an avid "Frederick Bomber Fan". He was one of the founding members of the Frederick Quarterback Club and drove the Bomber plane from 2008 to 2013. In 2013, Bill was surprised and presented his high school diploma by the Frederick Public Schools after he went off to war prior to graduating from high school. It was once said, everything Bill enjoyed in life started with the letter "F" – his Faith, his Family, his Friends, Frederick, Football and Fishing. He was a member of Tesca Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Joe Michael "Mike" Dill and his wife Helen and James Russell "Rusty" Dill all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;
two brothers, Charles Clinton Dill, Jr. and Rodney Ray Dill and his wife Reta all of Frederick, Oklahoma;
one sister, Doris Charlene Holland and her husband Marvin of Frederick, Oklahoma; six grandchildren,
Reagan Abbiss and her husband Joe, Scott Dill and his wife Lauren, Cody Dill, Daina Knoblock and her husband Jeff, Corey Dill and Casey Dill; eight great-grandchildren, Devin Reece, Kayligh Coates, Makenna, Conner and Finnley Dill, and Gavin, Faith and Haven Knoblock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; his wife; a daughter-in-law, Yolanda Dill; two brothers, Bobby & Doug Dill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick School Enrichment Foundation in memory of Billy Joe "Bill" Dill.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
