Graveside services for former Cache resident, Billy Herndon, age 68, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be held Saturday morning, 11:00 a.m., February 17, 2024, at the Cache Cemetery, 1148 Northwest Paint Road, Cache, Oklahoma, with Pastor John Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Cache Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma.    Mr. Herndon passed away at his home in Lawton, on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Billy Frank Herndon was born July 30, 1955, in Snyder, Oklahoma.   He was raised by his mother, Betty Jean (Goodman) Bowles and his stepfather, Edward F. "Bud" Bowles.  Billy Frank received his education at Cache Public School System.   Afterwards, he mostly worked all facets of construction -- framing, painting, roofing, drywalling.  When it came to construction, he had the talent to do it all.  Later, he began working in maintenance department for the City of Lawton.  After twenty years of service, Billy retired in 2019 as Supervisor of building maintenance.

In his leisure, Billy enjoyed reading, especially western novels and he also enjoyed watching western movies.   But, most importantly, he enjoyed being a Pawpaw!

Billy is survived by his sons, Jonathon Herndon and his wife Hicel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Clint Hyatt; his best friend and companion of the home, Debbie Jones; two grandchildren, Liam and Denver Herndon; his siblings, Steve Herndon and his wife Melody of Gordonville, Texas, Barbara Baker and her husband David of Cache, Oklahoma, A. C. Bowles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Joel Bowles and his wife Lydia of Indiahoma, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Betty Bowles, and a daughter, Shannon Herndon.
