Brenda Irene Dugan was born October 1, 1944, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Lester Lee and Jessie “Wilsie” (Dickerson) Fillmore. She attended Davidson Public Schools graduating with the Class of 1962. One of her many accomplishments while attending Davidson High School was receiving the honor of being the 1961 Basketball Queen. Brenda was united in marriage to Elbert Bruce Dugan on July 14, 1962, at the First Baptist Church in Davidson, Oklahoma. Following the wedding, they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she attended Oklahoma State University. In 1966, Bruce and Brenda made the move to Garland, Texas. While living there their three children were born, Brent, Briana and Bridget. The family returned to Davidson in 1976 to manage the family farm. Brenda was briefly employed by the Davidson Coop Gin and Davidson Public Schools. She then worked for twenty years at the Tillman County Extension Service as the secretary until her retirement in 2006. She enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, being at the lake, painting, and antiquing. She loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Over the years, she had many dogs and loved them all. Most of all, she loved her kids, grands, and great-grands. Brenda was known as Bebo to her grands and great-grands and she never missed attending all the kids’ various activities, whether it was a livestock show or a sporting event. She was a member of the Davidson First Baptist Church.
Brenda is survived by her husband of sixty-four years: Bruce; one son: Brent Dugan and his wife Terrie; two daughters: Briana Gaither and her husband Jimmy and Bridget Heap and her husband James; eight grandchildren: Natasha Dugan, Jordan Inscore and husband Matt, Micaela Scott and husband Aaron, Justin Heap and wife Billie Rae, Sydney Wisner and husband Thomas, Hunter Newell and her husband Mo, Colt Heap and his wife Rachel, Sadie Slagell and her husband Garrett; fifteen great grands: Kreightyn, Pake and Rhette Rodgers; Jovi and Marci Inscore; Presleigh, Wyatt, Maverick, and Riggs Scott; Warren Heap; Swayze, Trezly, Ritzy, and Brizby Wisner; Huxlee Newell and Baby Newell due in a couple of weeks; one sister: Micki Basinger; one sister-in-law: Charlotte Inda and her husband Joe. As Brenda would say … and that’s my story.
