Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Brenda Eulene Whitson age 79, of San Antonio, Texas will be at10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Haverland officiating.  Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.  Mrs. Whitson passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.

Brenda Eulene (Dunlap) Whitson was born December 25, 1942, in Frederick, Oklahoma to O.B. and Eulene (Pennick) Dunlap.  She attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School with the Class of 1961.  On February 10, 1961, she and Paul James "Jim" Whitson were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma.  Jim preceded her in death on March 6, 2014.  Brenda owned and operated Brenda's Beauty Shop in Frederick for many years.  In her spare time, she loved to shop. Enjoying the outdoors while fishing and camping with family and friends gave Brenda much joy. She was a lifelong member of the 13 ^th and Josephine Church of Christ in Frederick and attended the Northwest Church of Christ in San Antonio while living there.

She is survived by two sons, James Brent Whitson and his husband Erik Tierney of St. Louis, Missouri, and Paul Bryan Whitson and his husband Russell Deans of San Antonio, Texas;  one daughter-in-law, Adrienne Whitson of Burkburnett, Texas; one brother, Doug Dunlap of Frederick, Oklahoma;  four grandchildren, Lance Whitson and his wife Crystal of Frederick, Oklahoma, Haley Tucker and her husband Michael of Warrenton, Missouri, Aubree Whitson of Burkburnett, Texas, and Alex Whitson of San Antonio, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Landon Whitson, Layton Whitson, and Lawson Whitson all of Frederick, Oklahoma; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.B. and Eulene Dunlap; her husband, Jim Whitson; one son, Douglas Brandon "Brandy" Whitson; one great-grandson, Draigen Turman; one brother, Jackie Dunlap; and one sister, Betty Parris.

The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday evening, July 20, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
