Funeral service for Burl Dean Martin, age 85, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Lighthouse Cathedral with Dr. Charles Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Martin passed away on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2019 at his home in Frederick.

Burl Dean Martin was born on January 27, 1934 in Snyder, Oklahoma to Travis James and Iva Peal (Martin) Martin. He attended Laing School and later transferred to Francis High School near Ada, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1951. He was united in marriage to Katie Louise Wilson on January 17, 1958 in Francis, Oklahoma. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Lawton for over 25 years until his retirement in 1992. Burl was an avid sports fan. He was a Dallas Cowboy and O.U. Sooner Football fan. His family was very important to him. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Martin of the home; one son, Marty Martin and his wife Sandi of Frederick, Oklahoma; one daughter, Darla Dugan and her husband Jim of Brookville, Maryland; three grandchildren, Nicholas Martin, Blair Dugan and Morgan Harriman and her husband Matt; two great-grandchildren, Maylie and Max Harriman; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frankie Martin, Milburn and Leota Wilson, Billy and Linda Wilson, Mary Jo Johnson, Charles and Paulette Wilson and Leslie Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Travis and Iva Martin; two brothers, Donald and Dale Martin; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Gross.
