Carle Jo McNeil passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Frederick, Oklahoma — the same town where her story began. She came into this world on January 12, 1950, the daughter of Clifford and Hazel Taylor, and spent a lifetime proving that a girl from Frederick could leave her mark just about anywhere.
Growing up on Sunnybrooke Drive, Carle was surrounded by the kind of neighborhood magic that people hold onto forever. She talked about those years with a sparkle in her eye — the friends, the family, the adventures — and carried that golden chapter of her life with her always.
Carle built a career that was anything but ordinary. She channeled her creativity into something beautiful — literally. She owned and operated Carle’s Stems and Petals, her very own flower shop, in Fredrick where her love of flowers and her artistic touch came together in the best possible way. She worked as a secretary at the National Bank, the Health Department, and Schlegel in Frederick before her love of learning took her further. After graduating from Cameron University with her Bachelor’s Degree, she became a computer programmer and analyst. She worked in Austin, the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and also did contracting work that had her traveling all across the United States. She absolutely loved every mile of it. But if you asked her about her favorite job, she’d tell you without hesitation — working at the Texas State Capitol for the Texas Legislature.
But as full as her professional life was, her heart lived at home. She was devoted to her husband Lloyd, fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren, and the kind of woman who made everyone around her feel seen and loved. Often called the princess of the family, Carle had a radiant smile, a joyful personality, and a warmth that filled every room she walked into. Her laughter was contagious, her strength was real, and her optimism was the kind that didn’t waver even when life got hard.
She faced everything with grace and courage, and she never lost her ability to find beauty in the world around her.
Carle is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd McNeil; her children Bret and his wife Courtney, Todd and his husband Jonah, and Raymond; her grandchildren Jordan, Tanner, Zack and his wife Ashlee, Zane, and Zoee; her great-grandchildren Olivia and Liam; her sister Cathy and "special sister" Jo Andrea Dunham and her husband Don Dick. She also leaves behind cherished cousins, niece, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends who will feel her absence deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Hazel Taylor, and son Levi.
Carle Jo McNeil was one of a kind — adventurous, loving, creative, and alive in every sense of the word. Her memory lives on in the people she shaped, the roads she traveled, and the hearts she touched along the way.
She will be forever loved and never forgotten.
Memorial contributions may be made to Frederick High School, Attn: Athletic Department, 312 N. 15th Street, Frederick, OK 73542, in loving memory of Carle Jo McNeil.
