Obituary

A Celebration of the Life of C. J. Stoll, age 79, of rural Chattanooga, will be held at 2:00 p.m., October 3, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Frederick with Dr. Johnnie Curtsinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Stoll passed away at Hospice of Wichita Falls.

C.J. Stoll was a native of Manitou, Oklahoma born on February 2, 1939 to Conrad and Mollie (Feil) Stoll. C.J. graduated from Manitou High School in 1957. He attended several colleges, eventually graduating from California Lutheran University with a degree in electrical engineering. A curious and tireless learner, he worked as a radio station DJ in Perryton, Texas and ran the stock car racing circuit as a pit crew member in California. As an electrical engineer he found himself working on the first integrated circuits with then little-known companies such as Texas Instruments, Raytheon and Fairchild. He later went on to found several technology companies, run a farm and ranch, and continued his entrepreneurial activities until his death. In California, C.J. met and married Joan Krawiec in 1967. They had two children and lived in Saratoga, California. After the death of his wife Joan, C.J. met and married Gwyn Mefford Hatfield in 2007 and split their time between Chattanooga, Oklahoma and Santa Cruz, California.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Manitou, but attended the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga.
C.J. is survived by his wife Gwyn Mefford Stoll of the home; son, David Stoll and his wife Melanie of Mill Valley, California, daughter, Lesley Peterson and her husband Kim Blake of San Jose, California; steps-sons, Terry Mefford and wife Kristi of Chattanooga, Oklahoma and Trent Mefford and his wife Dawn of Frederick, Oklahoma; former daughter-in-law, Debbie Mefford of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Megan Carothers and her husband Kyle, Mikayla Mefford, Tenley Mefford, Henry Stoll, Timber Mefford and Evan Stoll; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

C.J. is preceded in death by parents, Conrad and Mollie Stoll; brother, Max Stoll; and sister, Ann Evans.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
