Obituary

Celebration of Life for long-time Frederick resident Clarence Eugene Walker age 95, will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 31, 2019, at The Church of the Living God, 400 North 5 th Street, Frederick, Oklahoma with Bishop Harold Edwards and Elder Levi Floyd officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Walker passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Dallas VA Hospital.

Clarence Eugene Walker was born February 24, 1924, in Grant, Oklahoma, to Johnny and Amanda (Colbert) Walker. He graduated from Boyd High School in Frederick, Oklahoma; and later attended the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Walker served in the United States Army during World War II; he served with the 1331 Engineer General Service Regiment. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and had received an accommodation as a Marksman Rifle Seven. While in the Army, he was a talented boxer.

On January 1, 1950, he and Myrtle Nolan were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma. The Walker's were blessed with five daughters and a nephew who they raised as a son. Mr. Walker was employed for many years as manager of the packaging plant of Centra Leather Goods. He was a member of the Church of the Living God, Temple 219, and served as Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher for many years. He was ordained as Deacon in 1992 and had served as Trustee. He was a member of the Singing Trustees of The Church of the Living God and received numerous awards and certificates, including District Six Sunday School Teacher of the Year, and First Senior Saints Award of Temple 145 in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Walker had served on the Frederick City Council and served as First Black Mayor Pro Tempore. He was a member of the Crystal Gate Masonic Lodge #173 and served as First Worshipful Master and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Mrs. Walker preceded him in death on July 28, 2013.

He is survived by five daughters, Barbara Walker Smith, Virginia Walker, Sharon Walker Fuller and her husband Russell, Sr., Julia Walker and Kimberly Walker all of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren, Rogel Smith, Kerri Moore, Rhett Smith, LaSunya Muhammad, Kendyl Jacox, LaNytra Fuller, Russell Fuller, Jr., Keaton Fuller, Kristi Hicks and Charles Bennett, Jr.; nineteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; two special cousins, Marjorie Chenault and Lola Smith; three special friends, Roosevelt Gildon, Elder Jerry Bowie, and Bernice Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Amanda Walker; his wife, Myrtle Walker; two brothers, Jimmy Frazier and M.P. Frazier; one sister, Clara Belle Walker; one nephew raised as a son, Charles Bennett, Sr.; and one great-grandson, Jaleel Muhammad.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the Living God, Temple #219, Frederick, Oklahoma in memory of Clarence Eugene Walker.
