Funeral services for former Frederick resident, Curtis Dunnam, age 85, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, 921 West Gladstone, Frederick, Oklahoma, with Rev. Les Banks officiating.  Mr.  Dunnam passed away Saturday evening April 26, 2025, at his home in Tahlequah.  Burial with United States Air Force honors will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

He was born in Mobile County, Alabama to Bilbo and Annie (Harris) Dunnam on April 17, 1940. He grew up and graduated from Theodore High School. He enlisted into the Air Force on October 7, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. While stationed at Tinker he met and married Patricia Ann Smith on November 7, 1962, in Rogers, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2009. While stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, he attended Central State University and achieved his Bachelor of Arts in Education. He later returned to school at Southwestern Oklahoma University and achieved his Master of Education. His first two years of teaching were at Garber Public School. He later moved to Frederick, Oklahoma and worked for Frederick Public School for 23 years until retirement. After retirement he worked at the Manitou Juvenile Center for 5 years. While in Frederick he attended 1st Missionary Baptist Church and Tesca Baptist Church where he served faithfully in many capacities.

More than anything in this world Curtis cherished his family, always bragging on his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and was proud of all their accomplishments. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his little red dog, visiting many friends and family members from Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas while his health allowed him to. Though some may say a good cup of coffee and pre-bedtime nap might have been his ultimate enjoyment to any day of the week.

He is survived by his son and his #1 daughter-in-law, Keith and Kristina Dunnam, Tahlequah, one daughter, Cambria Dunnam Hall, Vernon, Texas, one sister and brother in law, Mary and David Reese, Una, Mississippi, two brother in laws and spouse, Sonny and Joy Smith, Park Hill, Don Gardner, Mobile, Alabama, one sister in law Linda Dunnam Dehart, Mobile, his four grandsons and spouse Quinton and Tiffany Hall, Vernon, Kurt Hall, Tulsa, Jackson Dunnam, Tahlequah, and Brantley McCarty, Vernon, two granddaughters Harper and Samantha Dunnam, Tahlequah, and his two great- granddaughters Elliana and Emmalynn Hall and  his little red dog, Little Girl, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Patricia; parents; grandparents; his brothers and one sister-in-law, James, Robert, Billy and Rosie Dunnam; two sisters, Shirley Whiddon and Ronnie Gardner; his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Leona and Carlos Harper, Claude Smith, and Ruth and Albert Ward.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Crystal and Ana for the great care and compassion they gave to Curtis in his final days.
