Celebration of Life for Daniel Nail "Pie" Cathey (Lax), age 48, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dyke Crake officiating.  Pie departed this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in Frederick, Oklahoma.

Daniel Nail Cathey was born August 4, 1974, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Shirley Cathey and Donald Ray Lax. Daniel was family oriented and loved his family more than anything. He was a true example of being his little brother's keeper. Daniel graduated from Frederick High School in 1994. He was an outstanding student-athlete and a member of the 1993 3A State Championship football team.

Daniel Cathey attended American truck driving school in Lawton, Oklahoma where he received his Commercial Drivers License in 2010. After receiving his CDL he became employed at Pilot Logistics in 2010 and remained until 2015. Daniel furthered his career and took on great opportunities at Sanford Oil in 2015 where he remained while pursuing his career in Commercial Driving.

Daniel was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers, OKC Thunder, and OU Sooner fan. Above all, he loved Frederick Bomber Football!

Daniel's personality and humor were infectious and would light up a room. His presence guaranteed laughter, enjoyment, and authentic love for family and friends. His God-given leadership abilities made him a great role model for his younger siblings.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 11 years, Shameshia (Meka) Kay Cathey; his daughter, Danielle Cathey; stepsons, Matthew McKnight, and Elijah Ortiz; father, Donald Ray Lax; siblings, Donald (Anitra) Cathey, Corona Lax, William Lax and Anthony (Natosha) Cathey; Aunts, Sandra McCoy, and Lorraine Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog Hope Cathey.

Daniel is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Cathey; his grandparents, Lorine, and Andrew Lee Cathey; sister, Angela Lax; uncles, Charles, and Alford Cathey; aunts, Kathy Nolan, Lillie Kay, Katherine Cathey, and Bertha Smith.
