Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Delbert Gene Finley, age 63, of Wilmer, Texas will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, 921 West Gladstone Avenue, Frederick, Oklahoma with Elder Michael Green officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery at Elgin, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma. Mr. Finley passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the V.A. Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Delbert Gene Finley was born on May 31, 1954 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Ernest and Lena (Homer) Finley. He attended Frederick High School, graduating with the class of 1973. After graduation, he enlisted in the United State Army. Upon retiring from the Army, he moved to Dallas, Texas and started working at the Main Post Office and retired in December of 2015. He later became a full-time caregiver for his father. Delbert lived a simple life. He made sure that his dad, "Pops" and baby sister, Monica had whatever they needed.
Delbert leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Ernest Finley of Lawton, Oklahoma; two daughters, Shakonda Finley and her husband Billy Jenkins of Frederick and Veronica Terrell and her husband Jarius of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Michael and Ernest Finley, Jr. both of Lawton; three sisters, Betty Taylor of Lawton, Pamela Finley of Wichita, Kansas and Monica Finley of Lawton; a special friend, Maria Emmons; nine grandchildren, Tarian R. Finley, Titeanna N. Finley, Arnesia Y. Jones, Corlissa L. A. Jones, Jaleah Terrell, Jenesis Terrell, Faith Terrell, Jarius Terrell, Jr. and Zacharius Terrell; two great-grandchildren, Nah'Miah C. Finley and Shaydian B. Vaughn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Finley; one sister, Ernestine Finley Howard; and one brother, Patrick Finley.
