Don Legg age 79, of Tipton, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Ayers Nursing Home in Snyder, Oklahoma. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma.
Donald Alfred "Don" Legg was born March 2, 1944, in California, Missouri to Harland A. and Della Lydia (Horak) Legg. He attended public school in Kingston, Michigan, where he graduated in 1962. He later served in the Michigan National Guard. On May 19, 1967, he and Nancy J. Heineman were united in marriage.
Don worked beside his father as a mechanic in Kingston, Michigan as he grew up. He then worked as a service manager for Burton-Moore Ford in Carol Michigan. After moving to Austin, Texas he worked as a service manager for many years for McMorris Ford. Don and Nancy started in the grocery business: they owned and operated Legg's Grocery and Feed at Macks Creek, Missouri. After moving to Tipton, Oklahoma they purchased the grocery store, and it became known as Legg's Grocery.
Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tipton. Don was a mechanic his entire life, he loved tinkering with old automobiles. He was an avid Johnny Cash fan.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy J. Legg of the home; four children, Jim Legg of Esom Hill, Georgia, Cheryl Luckett of Tipton, Oklahoma, Dawn Legg-Asher of Virginia, and Chris Legg and his wife Deborah of Marshfield, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Della Legg; one daughter, Deborah (Legg) Proctor; one grandson, Cody Cummings; and one brother, Curt Legg.
