Don Rose

Funeral service for Ellery “Don” Rose, age 92, of Tipton, Oklahoma, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Rose passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Ellery Donald Rose, known affectionately as Daddy, Pepa and Uncle Don, was born January 24, 1934, in Laing, Oklahoma to J.V. and Mildred (Eberle) Rose. He graduated from Laing Consolidate #1 School. On December 28, 1951, he and Maxine Courtney were united in marriage in Vernon, Texas. Maxine preceded him in death on July 16, 2022, after 70 years of marriage. Don spent his life farming cotton. He was known to have the straightest cotton rows in Tillman County. When he wasn’t on the tractor he was cheering on the Tipton Tigers, taking a “Pepa nap” or sipping a Diet Coke. Once he finally retired he took care of the love of his life, Maxine until her final days. You could often find him at the Tipton Senior Center for lunch, especially on homemade ice cream day, or sipping coffee in the evenings with his buddies at the Hop and Sack. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton.

Don is survived by his two daughters, Frankie Parris and her husband Jeff of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer Keever and her husband Gabriel of Yukon, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Rose of Plano, Texas; one sister, Jo Ann Davidson; six grandchildren, Jared Sturgess, Erica Sturgess-McCarty and husband Jeremy, Lacy Senato and her husband Michael, Megan Mercer and her husband Jon, Melinda Parris, and Elizabeth Troncoso and her husband Giovanni; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.V. & Mildred Rose; his wife, Maxine; one son, Jerry Don Rose; one brother, Robert Rose; one sister, Stella Mae Wynn; and one granddaughter, Laura Kathryn Parris.
