Memorial service for former Frederick resident Doris June Coates, age 59, of Denton Texas will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday September 27, 2014, at Jackson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Coates passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at home in Denton Texas. Doris June Goodknight Coates was born on February 25, 1955 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Howard and Lois (Reed) Goodknight. She attended Frederick Public Schools, transferring to Gene Autry, Oklahoma before moving to Davidson where she graduated with the Class of 1973. She was united in marriage to Walter Duane Coates on July 14, 1973 at First Baptist Church in Davidson, Oklahoma. Doris worked many years for Mr. Burger, Ribs and More, and Walmart in Vernon, Tx. Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vernon. She and Duane had lived in Frederick, Oklaunion, and Vernon Texas before moving to Denton in 2007. She is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Michelle Roquemore and husband Patrick of Mesquite, Texas, Amber Mumford and husband Johnny of Denton,Texas and Ivy Hollingsworth and husband Derek of Dalhart, Texas; three brothers, Earl Goodknight of Davidson, Oklahoma, Robert Goodknight and wife Sue of Wichita Falls, Tx; Walter Goodknight and wife Susan of SanBenito, Tx; seven grandchildren, Danyelle and Dominique Roquemore, Jesse and Abigail Mumford, Katie, Lauren and David Hollingsworth and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
