Word has been received of the death of Dorothy Lee Wyatt, age 92, of Tipton.  Mrs. Wyatt passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 in a care facility in Altus.  There will be no service.

Dorothy Lee Wyatt was born on April 23, 1923 in Dorchester, Texas to John Thomas and Nancy Alice (Land) Cranford.  She attended Hagerman Schools, Hagerman, Texas and graduated in 1939.  She was united in marriage to Jennings Payne in 1939 in Whitesboro, Texas.  She later married John Helson in 1950 in Dallas, Texas.  After raising her family, she attended Piedmont College of Nursing in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1976.  Dorothy later married John Wyatt in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He preceded her in death.  She worked for Mecklenburg County Mental Health in Charlotte for many years until her retirement.  In 1990, she moved to Tipton to be close to family and worked at Pioneer Manor in Frederick.   Mrs. Wyatt was affectionately known as MaMa Dot to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She loved her extended family.  She enjoyed doing daily crosswords, working in the yard and reading. Dorothy loved chocolate.   She was always ready for a new experience and loved to get in the car and go.

She is survived by two daughters, Donice Franck and her husband David of Tipton, Oklahoma and Jodi Mathein and her husband Robert of St. Augustine, Florida; one son, Gary Helson and his wife Kim of Huntsville, Alabama; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson who is the love of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one grandson; four sisters and three brothers.
