Doyle Givens' Obituary
Funeral Service for Doyle Givens, age 90, of rural Frederick will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the 13th & Josephine Church of Christ with Mike Haverland and Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Givens passed away on February 23, 2018 at his home.
Wilford Doyle Givens was born on June 29, 1927 northeast of Frederick to Clinton Hubert "C.H." and Sula (Hall) Givens. He attended Manitou School and graduated from Manitou High School in 1945. Doyle volunteered for the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific in the Philippine Islands on the USS Saugus. After returning home from the military, he farmed his entire life until retiring in 2014. He had also worked at the U.S. Post Office from 1963 until 1990. He was united in marriage to Bettie Leona Tidwell on September 12, 1948 at Southside Church of Christ in Frederick. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2012. Doyle was a loyal member of the 13th & Josephine Church of Christ in Frederick where he served as an Elder. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Tipton Children's Home for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Givens and his wife Katy of Norman, Oklahoma and Bobby Givens and a special friend Debra Calvin of Manitou; two sisters, Colleen Degan and Maxine Hensley both of Duncan, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Clint Givens and wife Jessica, John Givens, Beverly Britton and husband Russel, Brett Givens and fiancé Brittany Ray, Whitney Miller and husband Jacob, Clayton Givens and wife Christina and Collin Givens and fiancé Jesse; nine great-grandchildren, Colten and Ava Britton, Jaxon, Braxton and Timber Miller, Faith Woodall, Brantley Givens, Emersyn Givens and Avonlea Givens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Glen Givens and Shirley Givens who died in infancy.
