Word has been received of the death of Dr. Earl Franklin McCullough, Jr., age 65, of Hobart, Oklahoma. Dr. McCullough passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, in Frederick. A memorial graveside will be held at a later date at the Spring Hill Cemetery south of Cooperton.
Earl Franklin McCullough, Jr. was born on September 24, 1954, in Chanute, Kansas to Earl Franklin and Josephine Olive (Elliott) McCullough. He attended public school in Chanute, Kansas, graduating in 1972. He attended Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas where he received a Bachelor Degree. He later attended Memphis University School of Optometry and graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry. He owned and operated Lawton Optical and later Southwest Oklahoma Eyecare in Altus for many years. On May 29, 1991, he was united in marriage to Kristi Jan (Blankinship) Besson in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Kristi McCullough of the home; his children, Abagail Ellis McCullough of Chicago, Illinois and Jeremy Besson and his wife Laura of Haslett, Texas; two sisters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Rice and her husband Michael of Chanute, Kansas and Victoria Swink of Arma, Kansas; his fathers-in-law, John Blankinship of Hobart Oklahoma and Dale Maddux of Frederick, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law, Jim Blankinship and his wife Carolyn of Troutfield, Virginia; one grandson, Tanner Thomas; his nephews and niece, Gary Beggs and his wife Kellie, Stephen McCullough-Hembree and his husband Brandon, Micah Blankinship and his wife Audre West, Jesse Blankinship and his wife Charlee, and Katie Chapman and her husband Chris; his great nephews and nieces; Michael, Kaitlyn, Kassidy, Jacob, Alex, Hailey, Kleya, Nyla, Aaron, Brian, Everly, Josilyn and Karlee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jo McCullough; two brothers, Rex and Mitchell McCullough; one son, Zachary Williams; and his mother-in-law, Le Maddux
