Obituary

Funeral service for Elene Elizabeth Kinder, age 98, of rural Frederick, will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick with Granville Clapp and Larry Shelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Kinder passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2017 at Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.

Elene Elizabeth (Humble) Kinder was born on June 20, 1919, northwest of Chattanooga, Oklahoma to Elmore William and Lucy Maude (Brooks) Humble. She attended Jack Creek School, west of Chattanooga. On August 26, 1937, Elene was united in marriage to Charles Lester Kinder, east of Frederick. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2002. Elene was an excellent cook who was famous for her fried chicken, chocolate cake with 7 minute icing, pecan pie, black eyed peas and potato salad. She was a wonderful seamstress and made all her daughter's clothes as they grew up. Another trait she possessed was being an immaculate housekeeper. Elene loved to crochet and do crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Chattanooga Church of Christ.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Worthington and husband John of Frederick and Carla Krasser of Chattanooga; one sister-in-law, Wilda Humble of Chattanooga; six grandchildren, Lori Johnson and husband Bobby, Robin Harlow and husband Brad, Kyle Worthington and wife Jill, Amy Boddicker and husband Jeff, Cullen Worthington and wife Jennifer and Levi Krasser and wife Danessa; eleven great-grandchildren, Kinder Harlow, Addison Harlow, Elene Johnson, Alyssa Worthington, Kenli and Kenzi Krasser, Reagan Worthington, Kadin and Kelby Worthington, Molly Johnson, and Amy Rosa; one great-great-grandson, Banning Rosa; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; five brothers, Vallie, Jewel, her twin brother Elzie, Merle and Gale Humble; two sisters, Greta Humble and Lahoma Bard Dye; and one son-in-law, Fred Krasser.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday evening, July 9, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Frederick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Church of Christ "After School Program" or the Tipton Home in memory of Elene Kinder.
