Obituary

Funeral service for Erma Duncan Dunlap, age 91, of Tipton, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the Tipton Church of Christ with Ken Waugh officiating.  Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.  Mrs. Dunlap passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at her home in Tipton.

Erma Lou (Parks) Duncan Dunlap was born on January 13, 1926, in Tipton, Oklahoma to Cloyes Alvin and Audrie (Wilson) Parks.  She attended Tipton Public School and graduated from Tipton High School in 1944, as valedictorian of her class.  Erma was an outstanding basketball player for the Tipton Tigers.  She later attended Oklahoma A. & M. College in Stillwater.  On November 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Allen "Bob" Duncan in Tipton, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on July 27, 1988.  She later married O. B. Dunlap on March 10, 1989, in Frederick.  He preceded her on October 28, 2009.  Erma was a true lady; she had a beautiful smile and was a very sweet and kind-hearted person.  She loved Tipton! Her great desire was to stay in Tipton, and was able to do so and died peacefully surrounded by her family.

She is survived by one son, Mike Duncan and wife Kathleen of Edmond, Oklahoma; one daughter, Patti Capshaw and husband Richard of Dallas, Texas; two step-children, Brenda Whitson of San Antonio, Texas and Doug Dunlap of Frederick, Oklahoma; one sister,  Sue Haynie of Tipton, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Caroline Duncan, Heather Hoffhines and husband Adam, Christopher Capshaw, Adam Duncan and Courtney Capshaw; six step-grandchildren, Paul Whitson, Brent Whitson, Adie Sparks, Aaron Parris, Kacy Gutierrez and Zack Dunlap; three great grandchildren, Clara, Coralee and Maxson Hoffhines and many step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands, Bob Duncan and O.B. Dunlap; and two brothers, Shirrell and Dean Parks.
