Ernest Cecil Brace, age 76, of Frederick, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

He was born August 14, 1949, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to August Cecil and Maria (Trent) Brace. He attended Cordell schools and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970.

Ernest was united in marriage to Etta LaVonne Pyburn on February 20, 1972, in Cordell, Oklahoma. In 1974, he made Frederick his home, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and community. He dedicated 38 years of service to the City of Frederick, where he supervised the Meter Department until his retirement in 2014.

Beyond his career, Ernest had a natural talent and passion for technology. He was highly skilled in computers and worked with numerous individuals and businesses, installing, developing, and programming computer systems. Many relied on his knowledge and willingness to help.

Ernest found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time at the lake, especially Lake Murray at Marietta, which he considered his second home. Fishing brought him peace and happiness. He was also an avid movie enthusiast, with a particular love for westerns. His collection of DVDs was extensive, and his favorite film was Quigley Down Under.

Above all, Ernest deeply loved his family. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy. His legacy is one of dedication, kindness, and a quiet strength that will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Bronkema and Deborah Brace.

Survivors include his wife: Etta, of Marietta, Oklahoma; two sons: Cecil Brace and wife Leona, of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Curtis Brace and wife Misty, of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma; two brothers: Donald Morrison and wife Eleanor, of Cordell, Oklahoma, and Jack Brace and wife Debbie, also of Cordell, Oklahoma; two sisters: Carolyn Maxey and husband Robert, of Lahoma, Oklahoma, and Virginia Buller, of Clinton, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Greg Carter (Miranda), Kayla Carter, Dade Brace, Staelon Brace, Dax Brace, and Zage Brace; and four great grandchildren: Callie, Chlow, Chance, and Abel Carter; sisters-in-law: Betty Pyburn, Lydia Solenberg and husband Allen, and Margarett Edwards and husband Roger; brothers-in-law: Cecil Kohl and wife Cyndy, Andrew Kohl and wife Lucy, William Wofford, and Bobby Boxley; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
