Obituary

Funeral service for Gary Don Jackson age 64, of Cache, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Cache Volunteer Fire Department, 602 S. Eight Street, with Dale Winham, retired fire chief and Dr. Greg Baxter, chaplain, Promise Care Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in the Cache Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Jackson passed away, Monday, May 1, 2017, at his home in Cache.

Gary Don Jackson was born February 27, 1953, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Carl Leland and Bettye Jo (Ash) Jackson. He attended Cache Public Schools, graduating from Cache High School in 1972. He was active in F.F.A. throughout his life, as well as while his children were growing up. On November 13, 1971, he and Cindy Kay Clark were united in marriage in Cache. Gary began working in the early 70's for Duty Rowe Cattle Company at Meers and later Lawrence Tank Steel Company in Lawton. On July 2, 1973, he started serving with the Cache Volunteer Fire Department. In 1974, he began his career as a fireman at Altus Air Force Base. He worked there for twenty-six years, until his retirement due to his health. He continued serving as chief of the Cache Volunteer Fire Department, retiring on May 31, 1999. Gary never met a stranger; he enjoyed the outdoors, cowboying, working cattle, roping and hunting. He was a member of the Cache First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy Jackson of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tish Jackson of Marlow, Oklahoma; one daughter, Karla Jackson Ornelas of Cache, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Georgia Jackson of Frederick, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Bailey Jackson of Cache, Oklahoma, Harleigh Mayle of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Sydney and Savannah Jackson both of Marlow, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Patricia Clark of Cache, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bettye Jackson; and his father-in-law, Otis Clark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cache Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Gary Don Jackson.

The family will greet friends and family on Wednesday evening, May 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home in Frederick.
