Celebration of Life for Gerletha May Peppers, age 87, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Bomber Hangar, 312 North 15th Street, Frederick, Oklahoma, 73542. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Peppers went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2024, at the United Regional Health Care System in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at her "Home Church", First Baptist Missionary Church, whom she loved dearly.
Gerletha Mae (Johnson) Peppers was born on November 1, 1936, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to William Henry and Evelyn (James) Johnson. She attended Boyd Elementary and Boyd High School. She was married to Jack Floyd Perry, and to this union was born seven children, Floyd, Toby, Gwendolyn, Gary, Jacqueline, Regina, and Randy. She later was united in marriage to Carl Peppers in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gerletha taught at the Frederick Head Start for many years, where she later retired after many years of service. Gerletha was a loving and faithful member of the First Baptist Missionary Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was the last "Mother Figure" in this community!
In loving memory, Gerletha Peppers, affectionately known as Sister Girl, was a guiding light in our community for 87 years. Her unwavering faith in God and boundless love for humanity defined her life's journey. Devoted to serving others, she embodied the spirit of Matthew 25:35-40, tirelessly caring for the least among us. her deep connection to her faith was evident in her passion for reading the Bible, uplifting others through encouragement and prayer, and nourishing souls with her delicious cooking. Revered as a prayer warrior, her presents brought solace to many. A talented seamstress and designer, she adorned the world with her creativity. Though she may have departed, her legacy of love and service will endure through the lives she touched. Gerletha Peppers will be dearly missed but forever remembered, her impact echoing through the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her grace.
She is survived by her seven children, Floyd Perry of Frederick, Oklahoma, Toby Perry and his wife Ruth of Frederick, Oklahoma, Gwendolyn Jackson and her husband Robert of Altus, Oklahoma, Gary Perry and his wife Linda of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jacqueline Ray and her husband Tommy of Altus, Oklahoma, Regina Perry of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Randy Perry and his wife Gwen of Houston, Texas; three adopted sons, Kwanie Young and his wife Maria of Altus, Oklahoma, Derrick Deckard of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Keith Williams of Moore, Oklahoma; special cousin/sister. Millie Shaw of Wichita, Kansas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; two brothers, William Henry Johnson, Jr. and Charles Arthur Johnson; and one sister, Geraldine Dickey.
