Funeral service for former Tillman County resident, Glenna Belle Mitchell age 89, of Wichita Falls, Texas will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick with Chaplain Darren Ward, Hospice of Wichita Falls officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Ms. Mitchell passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the Brookdale Midwestern Senior Living Center in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Glenna Belle Mitchell was born January 18, 1932, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Jarvis and Lena Belle (Hazel) Mitchell. She attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School in 1950; Glenna Belle won the Miss Wheat Pageant that same year. She later attended the University of Oklahoma. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for various business in Wichita Falls. She later worked as a beauty consultant in the cosmetic department at Dillard's Department Store. She was a meticulous and unique lady, who always had her makeup on and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her family was especially important to her. Glenna enjoyed looking at her many cookbooks and testing recipes from them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
She is survived by four nephews, Brian Mitchell and his wife Kayla of Frederick Oklahoma, Chad Mitchell and his fiancé Kelda Roskam of Frederick, Oklahoma, Brent Thompson and his wife Cory of Randlett, Oklahoma and Heath Thompson and his wife Lucretia of Devol, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Pam Mitchell of Frederick, Oklahoma; ten great-nieces and nephews, Allison Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, McKinley Thompson, Colton Thompson, Caleb Thompson, Skylar Thompson, Kimberly Hawkins, Carson Miser, and Kru Simpson; and two great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jarvis Mitchell; her mother and stepfather, Lena and Cleo Thomas; two sisters, Barbara Jean Mitchell and Diane Lennard; and one brother, Jerry Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookdale Midwestern Senior Living Center in Wichita Falls, Texas in memory of Glenna Belle Mitchell.
