Funeral service for former Chattanooga resident Golda Ada (Wolfe) Cotney age 96, of Sun City West, Arizona will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick with Granville Clapp and Eddie Whitworth officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Highland Cemetery in Lawton. Mrs. Cotney passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, in Sun City West, Arizona.
Golda Ada (Wolfe) Cotney was born March 31, 1920, on the family farm near Chattanooga, Oklahoma, to Orville Cullen and Ada Lavada (Allen) Wolfe. She attended Chattanooga Public Schools, graduating from Chattanooga High School in 1939. On September 25, 1942, she and Robert H. "Roxie" Cotney were united in marriage at Lawton, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1956. She later married Carl L. Cox on June 19, 1957, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in July of 1976. Mrs. Cotney's family was her life. She loved people. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Later in her life, she enjoyed her word books and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann Kinder and her husband Joe Ed of Frederick, OK, Beverley Kay Adair and her husband Chuck of Sun City West, AZ, and Dera Lawson and her husband Randy of Edmond, OK; one sister, Alice Walker of Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Hewett and her husband Ed, Stephanie Tallent and her husband Mike, Charlotte Adair and her husband Donald Lippencott, Shon Walker, Dawn Hunter and her husband Larry, Angela McKee and her husband Mike, Misty Adair and Tiffany Spurgeon and her husband Jason; twenty-three great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two grandsons, Terry Walker and Kenton Kinder; two brothers, Jim and Buddy Wolfe; and three sisters, Beryl Duer, Helen Epps and her twin sister, Gladys Wilson.
