Funeral service for former Frederick resident Gregory Patrick "Jive" Birdine age 62, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, 921 W. Gladstone Ave., Frederick, Oklahoma with Rev. Lloyd R. Logan officiating.  Mr. Birdine passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Gregory Patrick Birdine was born December 21, 1954, in Clinton, Oklahoma to Era Bell (Carter) Birdine and James Harris.  He attended Boyd High in Frederick and later transferred to Frederick High School where he graduated with the Class of 1973.  He then attended Langston University where he graduated and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.  On June 23, 1980, he and Loweta Roshelle Combs were united in marriage in Oklahoma City.  He worked as a self-employed caterer for many years.  He enjoyed basketball, football, cooking and being around his family.  One of his greatest pleasures in life was playing bingo.  Greg had a quiet spirit and was always kind and helpful to others.  He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Loweta of the home; one daughter, ReyHana Ulmerk of Oklahoma City, OK; five brothers, Charles Ray Carter and his wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, OK, Alfred Birdine of Oklahoma City, OK, Phillip Birdine and his wife Gloria of Altus, OK, Larry Birdine of Killeen, TX and Rodney Birdine of Killeen, TX; five sisters, Lyndia Tarkington of Houston, TX, Phyllis Lee and her husband Jackie of Frederick, OK, Minnie Hillmon and her husband Guy of Frederick, OK, Linda Harris of California and Patricia Harris of California; and many special nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vernon Dale Birdine, one sister, Patricia Jean Houston-Griffin.
