Obituary

Funeral service for H.E. "Cowboy" Willis will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davidson Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.  Mr. Willis passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his home in Davidson.

H. E. "Cowboy" Willis was born on November 13, 1935 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Elbert "Pete" and Pearl (Messick) Willis. He attended school in Wichita Falls. On July 4, 1970, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean (Moore) Day in Wichita Falls.   He started in the laundry business with the steam laundry method. The name "Cowboy" was given to him at this time because he would wear his boots and cowboy shirts to work.  He owned and operated several laundry mats in Wichita Falls, Texas and then serviced and built laundry mats in Texas and Oklahoma.  Cowboy later was owner and operator of the Maytag business in Vernon for several years.   He then went to work with Igou Appliance Store in Vernon where he serviced appliances for many people in Texas and Oklahoma.  He loved piddling and tinkering.  He enjoyed auctions, traveling and spending time drinking coffee at the Hop and Sack with his buddies.

He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two sons, Rick Day and his wife Debbie of Friendly, West Virginia and Robert Day and his wife Tammy of Elk City; two daughters, Debbie Dyck and her husband Kenneth of Corn and Carol Garland and her husband Len of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Virginia "Tooter" Bolf and Betty "Dot" Hash both of Wichita Falls, Texas;  thirteen grandchildren, Krystal Alonzo, Morgan Day, Dusty Day, Payton Day, Jaquoah Day, Drew Hawkins, Tina Brown, William Hawkins, Kenda Dyck, Travis Dyck, Tyler Dyck, Derrik Hickerson and Shonda Hoff; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
