Obituary

Graveside service for James Willie "Jug" Maines, age 80, of Frederick will be at 1:00 p.m.., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Maines passed away on Sunday night, October 14, 2018 at his home in Frederick.

James Willie Maines was born on July 2, 1938 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Loyd and Lola (Anderson) Maines. He was named Willie after his Maines grandmother. Jug graduated from Frederick High School in 1956. He loved playing football. After high school, he went on wheat harvest before joining Ironworkers Local #38. He helped build Comanche County Memorial Hospital, Cameron University dorms and Goodyear buildings among many throughout Oklahoma and Texas. He worked on the missile sites in Frederick and Minot, North Dakota. He also worked for the Corp of Engineers. Jug oversaw construction of Hackberry Flat. He married Kati Griffin on June 30, 1984.

Jug is survived by his wife, Kati Maines of the home; step-son, Jeb Stone and his wife Julie of Richardson, Texas; son-in-law, Bill Blankenship; three grandchildren, Blair McMillin and her husband Beau of Edmond, Oklahoma, Billy Bob Blankenship of Frederick, Oklahoma and Sasha Stone of Richardson, Texas; great-grandchildren, Madison and Bailey McMillin; sister, Pam Durham and her husband Mike of Watford, North Dakota; sisters-in-law, Shirley Capps of Frederick, Oklahoma and Liz Cobb and her husband Ty of Belton, Texas; brothers-in-law, John Millican of Temple, Texas, Bud Griffin of Belton, Texas and Rob Griffin and his wife Sherri of Moore, Oklahoma; one aunt, Bessie Cherry of Grandfield, Oklahoma; a special niece, Sherri Jacobs of Frederick, Oklahoma and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Ernest Dumdai; one daughter, Patti Blankenship; brother, Tommy Sparks; brothers-in-law, Marvin Griffin and Larry Kummer; sisters-in-law, Joanne Millican and Dorothy Sparks.

Memorials may be made to the Frederick School Enrichment Foundation ~ Patti Blankenship Scholarship Fund or the Tillman County Food Bank.
