Word has been received of the death of James Willie Nobles age 85, of Lawton, Oklahoma. Mr. Nobles passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center – Lawton/Ft. Sill Division. There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.
James Willie Nobles was born April 5, 1933, in Gowen, Oklahoma to Willie Burt and Dora Lee (Boggs) Nobles. He attended Tinney Hill Public School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a tank driver. He and Lucy A. (Meggs) Barnett were united in marriage on August 13, 1953, at Odessa, Texas. He worked as a mechanic for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Nobles of McAlester, Oklahoma; one son, Jay Nobles and his wife LaJonna of Manitou, Oklahoma; five daughters, Donna Ford and her husband Albert of McAlester, Oklahoma, Gwenda Fox and her husband Willie of McAlester, Oklahoma, Judy Justice of McAlester, Oklahoma; Debbie Douglas of Krebbs, Oklahoma and Rebecca Biafore and her husband Tony of Ramstein, Germany ; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Burt and Dora Lee Nobles; one daughter, Carol Moore; one son, James David Nobles; one grandson, Joshua Moore; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Fox; two brothers, Ollie and Clarence Nobles and four sisters, Ida Ott, Eva Seniora, Faye Ratliff and Juanita Emory.
