Word has been received of the death of Jan L. Slaven, age 82, of Frederick. Mrs. Slaven passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2016 in a Lawton hospital. No service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.

Jane Lisa (Howchin) Slaven was born on July 24, 1934 in Birmingham, England to Leslie and Mabel (Oakley) Howchin. She attended a Catholic Boarding School in Birmingham and later received a degree in business. She had worked as an attendant for the Ascot Racing Stables in England. She was united in marriage to Dr. Michael Clare in 1958 in England. In 1970, she moved to the United States where she was an accountant for High Meadow Timber in Norfolk, California. She and Steve W. Slaven were married in Madera, California in 1975. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2010. After moving to Quilcene, Washington in 2009, she worked as real estate agent. Mrs. Slaven then moved to Frederick in 2013 to be near her daughter.

She is survived by two daughters, Paris Jamieson and her husband Zepp of McCloud, California and Amanda Juliet Peet and her husband Jay of Frederick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, David Howchin.
