Celebration of Life for former Tipton resident, Janice Irene Gore, age 94, of Plano, Texas will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church, Tipton, Oklahoma with Dr. Kevin Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma. Mrs. Gore passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019, in Plano, Texas.
Janice Irene (McConnell) Gore was born October 5, 1925, in Morton, Idaho, to Willard Wilkinson and Louise (Trefren) McConnell. The daughter of a Methodist minister, Janice moved with her family to Oklahoma and lived in several communities. In Tipton, Oklahoma, she met and married her husband, William Carlile "Bill" Gore in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1996. She remained in Tipton until moving in 2011, to McKinney, Texas, to be near her daughter. Janice was an integral part of the Tipton community and the First United Methodist Church. She taught piano lessons throughout the area and providing music through the church and community for more than 60 years. She valued family and community and was active in many town events and valued many friendships. A highly disciplined person, she was a positive influence on friends and family alike, and was a woman of great humor and espoused strong principles.
She is survived by a son, David Gore and his wife Denise of Norman, Oklahoma; a daughter Marcy Gore Coats of McKinney, Texas; three grandchildren, Melissa Gore Watson and her husband Dr. Kevin Watson of Lilburn, Georgia, Darren Gore, P.A. of Houston, Texas and Kirby Gore Coats of Austin, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Bethany, James and Eden Watson; a sister, Margaret McConnell Sutton of Pueblo, Colorado; and a brother, John McConnell, M.D. and his wife Carol of Cedar Hill, Texas. Janice is also survived by many relatives from the Gore side of the family, originally from the Tipton area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Gore; one brother, Merwin McConnell; and one son-in-law, William Thomas Coats, III.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Care through the Oklahoma United Methodist Church in memory of Janice Gore.
