Over the years, he worked with his brother-in-law, Victor Scheller harvesting wheat; Doyle Ballard delivering propane; North Texas State Hospital in Vernon, Texas; Concho Supply as warehouse foreman; and various construction companies. Most recently, he was employed by the Bosworth Company in Midland, Texas. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to classic rock and roll, drinking a cold beer, and was an O.U. Football Fan. He was proud of his Choctaw Indian heritage. The thing he was most proud of was his children. His daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Quinton Clark; his stepson, Kevin Lockhart; his granddaughters, Brianna and Baley Clark, and his relationship with his wife and closest friend, Terri Lynn Johnson. He was married to his first love, Lori Ballard in July of 1979. In later years he met and married the love of his life, Terri Lynn Templin in May of 1997.

Jerry is survived by his wife; children; granddaughters; and sisters, Patsy Tucker, Shirlie Dean and Bobbie Scheller; and many nieces and nephews, including a close friend, he called a brother, Rodney Robinson. He is also survived by his Fur-Babies, Muscles, Mae-Mae, Mojo, Sadie, Bella, and the parakeet.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Estell Johnson; a brother, Eddie Johnson; his first wife, Lori Ballard; and dearest friends, Pete Mooney and Roy Hicks all of Frederick, Oklahoma.

The family would like to express gratitude toward precious friend, Julie Brice; Terri's co-workers at Wells Fargo Bank; Jerry's co-workers at Bosworth Company and the compassionate employees of Midland Memorial Hospital.
