Funeral service for Jerry Wayne Mitchell age 74, of rural Frederick, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday. December 12, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, 201 E. Grand with Phil Whitworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Mitchell passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018, at his home.
Jerry Wayne Mitchell was born June 1, 1944, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Jarvis and Lena Belle (Hazel) Mitchell. He attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School in 1962. He later attended Cameron University and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He was married to Elizabeth Lynn Wells and to this union was born two sons: John Chad and Brian Christopher Mitchell. On September 24, 2003 he was united in marriage to Pamela Kay (Ellis) Middick in Frederick, Oklahoma. He was a life long farmer/rancher in Tillman County; he followed in his fathers' footsteps and worked as an auctioneer with Ray Patterson for many years. Jerry was proud of his roots and the legacy he was able to pass down to his sons through Mitchell Farms. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frederick.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Mitchell of the home; two sons, Chad Mitchell and his fiancé Kelda Roskam of Frederick, Oklahoma and Brian Mitchell and his wife, Kayla of Frederick, Oklahoma; one step-son, Chris Middick and his wife Bobbie of Frederick, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Mandy Akin of Frederick, Oklahoma and Carlynn Murguia and her husband Leonel of Frederick, Oklahoma; one sister, Glenna Mitchell of Wichita Falls, Texas; three granddaughters, Allison Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell and Megan Mitchell; ten step-grandchildren, Colton Middick, Cody Middick, Caleigh Middick, Josh Akin, Jennifer Akin, Jeremy Akin, Charlee Ford, Trebse Stoup, Vallie Thrash and Carson Schoppa; and twelve step-great-grandchildren, Blakely Chavez, Harley Akin, Hayley Akin, Christian Akin, Braden Valez, Trevor Akin, Atticus Akin, Kingston Akin, Laetyn Akin, Kyler Carr, Syland Stoup and Raylee Ford.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jarvis Mitchell, his mother and step-father, Lena and Cleo Thomas; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Mitchell and Diane Lennard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Jerry Wayne Mitchell.
