Mr. Curtsinger passed away on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Jimmie Wade Curtsinger was born June 3, 1959, to Jimmie "Chick" and Frankie Jean (Woodall) Curtsinger, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chattanooga High School with the Class of 1977. During his summers in high school, he traveled north with his brother-in-law, Jimmy Stover, to help with custom wheat harvesting. After high school, he attended Okmulgee Tech School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Jimmie then returned home to farm wheat and run stocker calves. He and Teresa Ann Stoll were united in marriage on August 2, 1986, at the Peace Congregational Church. Jimmie worked for the Lawton Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for twenty-eight years.
Jimmie was an avid reader. If a topic piqued his interest, you had best believe Jimmie would research it and be glad to share his findings. He was also blessed with the gift of gab. Jimmie was never at a loss for words, and even the times he went bird hunting with his brothers-in-law, Don and Donny, was no exception. His other hobbies included leatherworks, wood-working, and tinkering. Specifically, Jimmie loved to tinker with antique or classic automobiles. If not tinkering, Jimmie could be found watching a classic western or Star Trek. Jimmie was never the type to spend vacations at an all-inclusive resort. Jimmie loved to find adventure in places where history is rich, such as Vicksburg, Mississippi, Rapid City, South Dakota, and Dodge City, Kansas, to name a few. Simply put, Jimmie was a renaissance man.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Ann, of the home; his two sons, Clint Curtsinger and his wife Haley of Marlow, Oklahoma, and Casey Curtsinger and his wife Nicole of Lawton, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Hannah Curtsinger and Cason Curtsinger; four sisters, Lahoma Cantrell of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bessie Petty and her husband Donny of Blanchard, Oklahoma, JoAnn Fischer and her husband Don of Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and Debbie Mefford of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; three special friends Kevin Labude and his wife Janet, Danny Dreith, and Kirk Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chick and Frankie Curtsinger and a brother, Gerald Don Curtsinger.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Indiahoma Volunteer Fire Department.
