Funeral service for Jimmie Clyde Kelly, age 77, of Frederick will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2015 at the 13th & Josephine Church of Christ with Kent Allen & David Ridenour officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Kelly passed from this life to his eternal one on March 11, 2015, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Jimmie Clyde Kelly was born July 15, 1937, to Robert Clyde and Lora Woffard Kelly in Tillman County, Oklahoma. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1956. He excelled in baseball as a "lefty" pitcher and basketball sharp-shooter and passer. His love for sports culminated in watching his grandchildren continue his legacy. He married Reita Joyce McCormack on August 12, 1960, at the Tipton Church of Christ. Reita preceded Jimmie in death on March 26, 1991. On July 18, 1992, he married Twala Thacker Thomas whose children and grandchildren he loved and accepted as his own. Jimmie Clyde successfully farmed in Tillman County through some of the most severe conditions in the history of the area. His hard work, patience and good humor in spite of those bitter circumstances were models to all who knew him. "Jimmie Clyde Kelly has been a pillar in my life. He's the most genuine, hard-working, compassionate, easy-going, quick-witted, and accepting man I've ever known." So wrote James Hill in his tribute to his father-in-law. Survivors include his wife, Twala Kelly of the home; two children, Kerry Jim Kelly, Rostock, Germany, and Jana Beth Kelly Hill and husband James, Edmond; a brother: Kenneth Kelly and wife Neva, Frederick; three sisters: Betty Joyce Phillips and husband Damon, Duncan; Patsy Hiser, Farmington, N.M.; and Doris Moore and husband Ronnie, Enid; three step-children: Jennifer Adair and husband Chris, Edmond; Melissa Handke and husband, Gus, Healdton; Brad Thomas and wife Courtney, Oklahoma City; two grandchildren: Sydney Joyce Hill and Grant McCormack Hill, Edmond; five step-grandchildren: Connor and Caton Adair; London and Gunner Handke; and Crew Thomas.
