Memorial service for former Tipton resident, Joe Grubbs age 80, of Chandler, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Tipton, Oklahoma with Rev. Harold Gaches officiating. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home, Frederick, Oklahoma. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Eastview Memorial Cemetery, Vernon, Texas. Mr. Grubbs passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at the Chandler Therapy and Living Center.

Harvey Joe Grubbs was born July 6, 1937, in Calera, Oklahoma to Wilburt Inman and Madge (Stephens) Grubbs. He attended Vernon Public Schools.  On December 18, 1955, he and Barbara Hope Liles were united in marriage at Vernon, Texas. He served in the United States Army where he later received his GED.  Joe worked for Southwest Rural Electric for over thirty years before his retirement. He was a member of the Tipton First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 62 years; two sons, Jeff Grubbs and his wife Debbie of Martha, Oklahoma and Mark Grubbs and his wife Ethel of Wellston, Oklahoma; two sisters, Iva Belew of Vernon, Texas and Lois Willis of Wichita Falls, Texas; one brother, Jim Grubbs of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburt Inman Grubbs; and his mother and step-father, Madge and Ralph Dunn.
