Funeral services for John Paul Clifton, age 79, Frederick will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Clifton passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014, in South Lake, Texas. John Paul Clifton was born on November 7, 1935, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Fred Lee and Minnie Ruth (Shipley) Clifton. He attended Frederick Public schools, graduating from Frederick High school with the class of 1954. He later attended Cameron University. He served in the United State Army from 1959 through 1961. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary Culver on May 20, 1967, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 11, 1999. After returning home from the military he went to work at the Frederick Post Office. He served as city carrier, supervisor and later as Postmaster, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Frederick. He is survived by two daughters, Paulette Taylor and husband Shane of Fairfax, Virginia and Connie Clifton of Keller, Texas; two grandchildren, Chase and Kirsten Taylor of Fairfax, Virginia; one brother, Lonnie Clifton and wife Joy of Chattanooga; two sisters-in-law and brother- in-law, MaeDell and Billy Jeter and Sharon Culver all of Healdton.
