Memorial service for John W. Osborn, age 71, of Tipton will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Tipton Church of Christ. Mr. Osborn passed away on Friday morning, May 1, 2015, at a Lawton hospital. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. John Wilson Osborn was born on May 5, 1943, in Silver City, New Mexico to John Enoch and Bertha Lorene (Wilson) Osborn. He attended school in Carlsbad, New Mexico and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1961. He then attended Lubbock Christian College and later transferred to Abilene Christian University. On December 19, 1963, John was united in marriage to Geneva Floyd in Friona, Texas. After their marriage, he worked for J. C. Penney's in the shoe department , Holsum Bakery in the accounting office and then Southern Union Gas Company all in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1972, he transferred to Southern Union Gas Company in Dallas, Texas. The Osborn Family came to The Tipton Home in 1983, where they served as house parents. He was employed as business manager and later served as executive director before retiring in 2008. He was currently serving on the Board of directors. John was a faithful member of the Tipton Church of Christ, where he had been a Deacon and later an Elder. He was a Bible teacher and song leader. He also was a member of the Tipton Chamber of Commerce where he held various offices. He was involved with OK Care and other various organizations related to child care. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Osborn of the home; one son, Joel Osborn and his wife Rhonda of Tulsa; one daughter, Heather Ward and her husband Curtis of Roscoe, Texas; two sisters, Pam Cummings and her husband Benny and Pat Stamps and her husband Gaylon all of Panhandle, Texas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue Osborn Powell and husband Bill of Round Rock, Texas, Gerald Floyd of Canyon, Texas, Frieda and Richard Dickson of Garland, Texas, Susan and Wes Phillips of Lewistown, Montana; four grandchildren, Judith Osborn, Caleb Ward, Drake Osborn and Hannah Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Osborn; and one sister-in-law, Jana Floyd. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Tipton Children's Home, P. O.
