Obituary

Funeral Service for John Allen Redeker, age 81, of Frederick will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Milton, Glenn, and James Redeker and Dr. Shane Kendrix officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Redeker went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2018 in Frederick, Oklahoma.
John was born August 15, 1936, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Irvin and Alta (Caddell) Redeker. He attended Frederick Public Schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1954. He was active in school activities including choral groups, FFA and athletics. He was a captain on the 1953 football team and earned All District honors as a fullback, and then, received a full scholarship to play football at Iowa State University.
In 1956, John married Carolyn Joy Cunningham and to this union was born a daughter, Kathy. Later, in 1959, he graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a degree in geology. John participated in the ROTC program at Hardin Simmons and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. He served at Ft. Hood, Texas.
John later furthered his education at the University of Texas and earned a degree in Petroleum Land Management. He worked for several companies as a landman and ultimately formed his own company, Amicus Petroleum. He was selected as Landman of the Year for the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen and also, served as president, an honor of which he was particularly proud.
During his years in Colorado, John was an avid hunter. He especially liked hunting deer, elk and antelope and was an excellent marksman. In 2014, after forty-seven years in Colorado, John and Joy returned to Frederick to be closer to family.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of the home; one daughter, Kathy De'Aunn Golden of Austin, Texas; one grandson, Breckenridge "Breck" Golden of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Milton Redeker and his wife Rebekah of Manvel, Texas, Glenn Redeker and his wife Kay of Frederick, Oklahoma, and James Redeker and his wife Linda of Sulphur, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, June Cunningham Mullins of Austin, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Alta Redeker.
