Obituary

Funeral service for Jonathan C. Nchekwube age 30, of Dallas, Texas, will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 105 N. Broadway, Tipton, Oklahoma, with Pastor James Towers officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Jonathan passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019, in Dallas, Texas.

Jonathan Chukwuma Nchekwube was born December 19, 1988, in Plano, Texas to Jonathan Chukwunwike and Glenda Fay (Blackmon) Nchekwube. He attended Tipton Public School, graduating from Tipton High School in 2007. He later attended Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma. He was a former employee of Henniges Automotive in Frederick, Oklahoma.

Jonathan was a quiet person with a beautiful smile; he had a heart of gold. He loved his family. His momma and sister were his pride and joy! He loved to volunteer at various church and school functions; he could be found cheering for his cousins at their ballgames, and at halftime, he would go on the court and coach kids on how to perfect their shots. He was an excellent cook.

He is survived by his mother, Glenda Blackmon-Johnson of Dallas, Texas; his father, Jonathan "Joe" Nchekwube of Sachse, Texas; his maternal grandmother, Ida Mae Blackmon of Tipton, Oklahoma; one sister, Johanna Nchekwube of Manhattan, New York; two brothers, Christian Nchekwube and Kenechukwu Nchekwube both of Sachse, Texas; his maternal aunts and uncles, Patricia Gaffney and her husband Ben of Lawton, Oklahoma, Vanessa Robinson and her husband Michael of Lawton, Oklahoma, Linda Wood of Tipton, Oklahoma, David Stevenson and his wife Joanna of Pampa, Texas and Willie Blackmon and his wife Lori of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his paternal aunts and uncles, Joy Anyanwutaka and her husband Sam of Nigeria, Esther Akwue and her husband Alfred of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Nchekwube of Texas, Benjamin Nchekwube and his wife Ada of Nigeria and Sunday Nchekwube and his wife Iseanywa of Texas; and a host of cousins, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Perly Blackmon; and his paternal grandparents, Gabriel and Ester Kneka Nchekwube.

A family gathering will be Monday evening, December 2, 2019, from 6 – 8 p.m., at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Tipton, Oklahoma.
