Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Katie Irene Smith age 80, of San Antonio, Texas, will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, Oklahoma with Mike Haverland officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith passed away Friday, October 11, 2019, at her home in San Antonio, Texas.

Katie Irene (May) Smith was born December 25, 1938, east of Manitou, Oklahoma to John C. and Myrtle L. (Dennison) May. She attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School in 1957. On November 28, 1958, she and Emory Smith were united in marriage in Vernon, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1994. She was a member of the 13 ^th & Josephine Church of Christ in Frederick.

She is survived by three sons, Scott Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Robin "Rob" Smith of San Antonio, Texas, and Mark Smith and his wife Jennifer of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one daughter, Marla Smith of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Curtis Smith, Sydney Smith and Sophia Smith; other family member and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle May; her husband, Emory Smith; two sisters, Inez Bradshaw and Hazel Frazier; and five brothers, John May, Bill May, Joe May, Charles May and Dale May.
