Funeral service for Kimlan Lee, age 67, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 201 East Grand Avenue. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Ms. Lee passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Kimlan Jean Lee was born March 21, 1954, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Clarence "Moon" Evaige and Mary Ann (Shaw) Allen. She attended O.E. Kennedy Elementary, Altus Junior High, and Frederick Public School; graduating with the class of 1972. She went on to attend Langston University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in education. She started her teaching career in 1976 in Frederick, then relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in 1979, where she continued to teach. In 1980, Kimlan was united in marriage to Larry Williams; two children were born to this union. In 1982, she moved back to Frederick and continued educating in her hometown. Years later, she also became the G.E.D. teacher at the Frederick Community Work Center. In 1991, Kimlan and Jackie Lee were married, and to this union one child was born. She retired from teaching in May 2011 and continued in her mother's footsteps as the caregiver for Willie Faye and Rocky Jensen. She went on to provide care to others, until she settled into her most cherished role as a full-time grandmother.
Kimlan was a faithful member of the historic St. Paul AME Church in Frederick for over 40 years and served in various capacities including primary Sunday school teacher, choir member, missionary president, financial officer, trustee, steward of the church, and assistant secretary. She was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. with the Sigma Eta Omega Chapter in Altus since 1991.
Kimlan was known to truly have a servant's heart. God used her hands to bless countless families with meals during the holidays and in their times of bereavement. Like her mother, she loved to shop and go to garage sales and seemed to always know someone who needed what she found.
Kimlan is survived by three children, Tiffany Williams Lewis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Larry Williams, Jr and his companion Trista Skinner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jackie Lee II and his wife Katlyn of Frederick, Oklahoma; her significant other Jamal Syas of Frederick, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, George Lewis III, Jacob Lewis, Asa Lewis, Tyan Lewis, Terrance Williams, Braydon Williams, Jackie Lee III, Kyssandra Lee, and Zayden Lee (due April 2022); five brothers, Charles Brown and wife Valerie, Jimmy Allen and wife Nita, Terry Shaw and wife Keyshia, Ricky Shaw and wife Rhonda, and David Allen; four sisters, Cleata Ross and husband Michael, Reta Osbourne and husband Norberto, Erica Evaige, and Wanda Green and husband Deltra; step-mother, Patricia Nolan, two special cousins, Lola Carthon and Pamela Hunter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Kathy Beatty, Vanessa Mitchell, and Brenda Brown, the FHS Class of 1972, and many other sorors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Moon Evaige and Mary Ann Allen; and three siblings, Gerald "BoBo" Shaw, Eric Shaw and Shirley Goynes.
